These are 19 of my favorite Bluejake pictures from the past year- and what a year it has been! Lots of new friends, the whole Gothamist thing, school- I hope it has been just as exciting for all of you. My Bluejake New Year's Resolutions for 2004: learn to take better pictures, learn to do more sophisticated Photoshop adjustments (levels, curves, etc), try to take pictures in more interesting neighborhoods. Much love, and thanks for visiting. Happy New Year!

Your poor cat looks really stymied by that glass of water.

If you're looking for a PS book, I used to really like one called Real World Photoshop. It covers things like "enhance shadows and details in photos without blowing out the highlights," rather than the "make fancy beveled web buttons with tiger stripes!" that so many Photoshop books lean towards. My copy was for Photoshop 3 and I'm not sure how well it has been updated to deal with newer versions, but maybe you'd want to look into it.

more best of Thomson please!

I laugh whenever I see your cat

New fan from Toronto here! Recently found your site and will now make it a regular visit in '04. Thanks for posting your pix - you've really inspired me to go out and explore my own surroundings :) All the best for the new year!

jake -

the book called "The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby has been invaluable to me. I love it. It's so much better than a basic photoshop how-to book. It has every problem that can go wrong with your digital photos from red eye to not using a flash when you should have to colors being off to people looking too old and fat and then it gives you step by step instruction on how to correct your photo. I have it for PS7 for the Mac but I think it's available in an XP version too. It's awesome. You won't be sorry if you get it.

Happy new year!

Great collection of pics. I love NY and there are neverending pics to take. I am getting a digital camera soon...then...maybe I'll start sharing the beauty of my own little city way over yonder here in San Diego...then I'll need a blog with a better format...hmmm, blogging is a neverending quest.

Great selection of photos! I especially like the one of the clouds over the beach (the daytime one -7th down), the red light, and of course, the ones of your cat.

I LOVE the first pic. The sky looks amazing!

~outstanding!~

I can't find this book. You are best photogod. :)

you've done a great job.. the pics are really amazing abd cool.. i like you SKY..

I am a great fan of your work starting last week. Everything is so color full, and pleasing to the eye. You can even make a warehouse with broken glass all over the floor look like a modern building. nice work,
