March 11, 2002: March Blues
Well, the month of March has been knocking me around a little bit. I think it has to do with the six month anniversary of September 11th- all the magazines are running articles on how depressed everyone is. In any case, I've not been very interested in updating the site. In the downbeat spirit of the week, I did add a new polaroid gallery of the Towers of Light memorial.
In order to lift my spirits, I've been learning some new songs for my guitar class. I've been using the OnLine Guitar Archive, which seems to have tablature for every conceivable group. I've been going to Matt Umanov on Bleecker Street for music and assistance with my various guitar related questions. They seem a lot more patient than everyone up on 48th Street- although Sam Ash is still a fun store.
Teaching is going especially well this month- I have a great group in my Information Architecture and Interface Design class. For the first time, we have begun using the New School's Portal as a supplement to the class sessions. It still needs some debugging, but the discussion boards, file sharing, and communication modules are very useful. You can browse the portal without a login- take a look. I'm also adding a new level of detail to the class syllabus each week.
I'm headed to Los Angeles for a couple of weeks- but I will try to update the site from there.
