May 6, 2002: Activities in Early May
I've been enjoying my time off a lot more than I should- following my whims and enjoying my usual hobbies. I've been considering buying a digital camera, but for now I'm still working on film. The results are definitely hit or miss- sometimes the pictures come up clear and vibrant, and other times they come back blurry and dull. Sometimes, the roll comes back mixed- as is the case with the pictures I shot at this year's Israel Day Parade. I've been trying to shoot a roll each week to get back my photo skills- use it or lose it, I always say.
I've found some time to work on my HTML coding skills. First, there was a site that I needed to do for my dad's law firm, Collins, Dobkin & Miller LLP. I was really happy with the results, which were inspired in part by the Apex European Hotel site. I'm working on three or four templates for other sites, including this one, which is still a work in progress. I'm going for site designs that prominently feature at least one photograph on each page- preferably situated in a table with light 1 pt borders and plenty of white space. To find space for all these new experiments, I've opened webspace at my DSL host, as well as on the New School servers. Not much there now, but I expect to put up some new sites pretty soon.
I'm going to continue working through the end of May, with a short trip to Los Angeles sometime in the next couple of weeks. On May 31st, I'm taking my summer vacation- three weeks in Edinburgh, Amsterdam, the Hague, Berlin, Prague, and London. I'm working on ways to post from the road- but a digital camera would seem to be a requirement.
Stay tuned!

hey Jake,
Who are you traveling to Europe with? Don't worry I can't go, but have a good time.
Oh- you know- my usual clique.
