May 28, 2002: Memorial Day Weekend

I've been very busy the last few days finishing up ten or twelve projects and preparing for my summer trip. I spent yesterday in Brooklyn, enjoying the sunshine and taking a little break from running around. We started the day by going to Park Slope and walking over to the Greenwood Cemetery, where the annual Memorial Day concert was being held. It did not strike me until today that having a Memorial Day concert in a cemetery is very appropriate. I'm very big on missing the obvious. Karen and I wandered around in the cemetery, and after some time we could no longer hear the band- the cemetery is extremely large. We walked and walked and saw all these crazy monuments and scaled this giant hill, which apparently is one of the highest points in all of Brooklyn. Anyway- after an hour we started getting the creeps and walked back to Park Slope. People came over around 5pm and we had a regular old time bbq, which is one of my favorite things to do.
Back in the city I finished two 5k entries and polished off a few of these projects- but most of them are super-secret. I'm apparently teaching four or five New School classes this summer- including IA, Flash, and two Dreamweaver classes, so shoot me an e-mail if you are interested. In an unexpected turn, it seems I will actually be taking a couple of classes as well- more on that to follow.

As I noted in the gallery section, taking pictures at Greenwood Cemetery is forbidden. Unfortunately, I didn't see the sign until we were on our way out. Does anyone think it's wrong to post the pictures that I already took?
