May 30, 2002: The 5k Entries
I thought I'd post the 5k Entries that Andrew Boardman and I created in advance of the competition. You can copy them if you like, but it would not be very nice. The rules of the 5k are very simple- you can submit any file that is smaller than 5120 bytes and has some artistic value. The first entry is called The 5k Modernist Museum and recreates eight famous artworks using nothing but HTML table code. It turns out that Alex Barber won the 5k 2000 with a similar entry, but we only discovered that after we submitted ours. His entry uses very small GIFs to accomplish the same basic task- but is a little different. The second entry is more cerebral, and is titled 5k of Pi. What do you think?

the piece o' pi is cool. it reminds me of the math nerds from middle school who tried to memorize as many places of pi as possible. hence, it is perfect for a computer contest such as the 5k.
I'm saying, though! If only the judges would appreciate our brilliance.
Yeah, nice pi I agree...
Doesn't anyone remember the 4k demoscene from the old days of DOS? Maybe it is just me.
