June 7, 2002: Presently Away

I'm currently in Amsterdam, after a week that took me through London and Edinburgh. I'll be back in the states in a couple of weeks, after stops in the Hague for a wedding, Berlin, Prague, and London (again). If you need to reach me, I'll be available by email. Big thanks to Robert Chang for covering the Information Architecture and Interface Design class while I am gone, and to EzPo for housesitting in my apartment and keeping my things company.

I'll post a full account when I return, with pictures. See you then.

Arrived in the Hague. Sort of a dreary day- but looking forward to this whole big wedding. High speed internet access in every hotel room- possibly for EU/UN diplomats?

Managed to make it to Berlin... lots of crazy reunification action going on here... cranes everywhere. A little like Paris, a little like London. I like the city a lot. Except keyboards here reverse the Z and Y keys... very confusing! Anyway... three days here and on to Prague.

Jumped on a 9:30am train from Berlin Zoo and made it safely to Prague by 3pm local time. Seems like a nice city... we have managed to find a laundromat, and are staying pretty close to the Old-New Synagogue and everything else. This is the apogee of our trip... the farthest point in our orbit from where we started. Heading back to London on Sunday morning, and back to New York the following Friday. More to come.

EzPo?

Kind of like the great graffiti artist Espo, but with a Z. Also, possibly shorter and with less artistic talent.

Arrived in London. At the easyinternet cafe on Tottenham Court Road by the hotel. Already saw the Tate Modern and V&A and Harrods. Back on Friday. Cheerio!

Is that like some kind of snake? Anyway, we've been eating lots of Indian food and traditional English fare... steak and something pie, etc. Also, the best sandwich chain in the world, Pret, provides most of our lunches. Who cares if they are 50% owned by McDonalds?

I'm returning to New York tomorrow morning. I've had a great time cutting this path across northern Europe, but I'm tired and looking forward to getting on with things. Lots of stuff coming up the next few weeks: decide on my studies, return to teaching, and find some real work. Also, of course, July 4th weekend in Vegas.

Back in NYC!
