August 28, 2002: Statistics
Apparently Bluejake turns up third or fourth on a whole range of September 11th Photograph searches. They must have reindexed last week, because for the last few days I've been getting a hundred hits a day, mostly based on those queries. I prepared a little statistics page so you too can appreciate the moment to moment excitement of looking at Bluejake traffic logs.

Josh thinks the traffic will build each day until the 11th. I have a feeling it will peak and fall off before then.
I think it might spike up after the 11th, too. Personally, i'm a little more comfortable looking at photographs of September 11th events versus seeing news footage. I feel like I've relived it more times than I want to at this point... I don't particularly want to watch any September 11th programming on the anniversary, either, and I think the cable networks that are going dark are being lame - does that mean movie theaters will not show films that day? There needs to be an alternative. There should be more reflection versus rehashing. What also gets me is that the Post (I know, it's the Post) was bitching about PBS airing a doc about how the U.S. is responsible for the situation with Afghanistan. Why PBS and non-pre-packaged, marketing-based programming is critical is because a variety of opinion and perspective helps enlighten in the very least.
Not me- I'd like an all September 11th channel replaying the day's news over and over and over again. There are so few events in our lifetime that seem to matter- to actually make you feel something. I felt numb before September 11th, and after September 11th, but not on September 11th. Knowwhatimean?
well they ain't visiting it for the 'blogs, that's fer sure.
I have a Japanese friend who's visiting on the 5th and flying on the 11th.
She should have no problem upgrading to first class...
And remember people- these are independent visitors being tracked- not impressions. Impressions normally run about 5-10 per visitor.
I like how several airlines are offering plane tickets for free or for nominal sums of money on September 11.
So they're encouraging people to pay cash (or not pay) for one way tickets (because return flights on later days will be full price) on 9/11.
Doesn't really seem that smart to me.
Interesting Op-Ed re: footage.
