September 12, 2002: Big in Brazil

Of the 1279 hits Bluejake got yesterday, I noticed that about 25% of the hits were coming from IP addresses located in Brazil. I looked at the referrer information in PowerPhlogger, and found out that most of the traffic was coming from this page at UOL, which appears to be a large Brazilian newspaper site. Josh translated the article using Google's language service, but all we got for the caption was this extremely strange piece of text: "Sequência of images in Polaroid taken off during the attempted against ones in New York shows destruction of the towers the deep one; photographer made self-portrait and postou images in the site www.bluejake.com..." . Incidently, the URL given is actually wrong- the right address contains an underscore between the 'polaroid' and the 'sept11'- I actually had to place a page at the address they gave to stop people from getting 404 errors.

If any of my new friends from Brazil see this post, I'm perfectly willing to come to Brazil to give a presentation on any of a wide variety of subjects- 9/11, blogging, skating, information architecture... I'd prefer to stay in a large hotel on the beach in Rio. Send all inquiries to jake@bluejake.com. I mean, if it works for Evhead, it can work for me.

Jake, you are insane.

Glass houses, my friend. Glass houses.

Correction- UOL is the largest portal site in Brazil. It's like AOL.
