September 17, 2002: Battery and Bar
Normally I skate alone. I like to skate long distances and strange routes over the bridges and down the middle of crowded streets, and I hate to have to worry about whether or not someone else is keeping up or has been hit by a car or whatever. Once in awhile, however, I'll take a slow skate just to hang out with friends and get out of the apartment. With that in mind, Josh and I skated down the West side at sunset, and ended up at this little outdoor bar near the Staten Island Ferry terminal. We had a couple of drinks and talked some, and then skated up the East River path. By then it was dark, and the path was mostly unlit. There are some patches with a lot of gravel, but we made it back up to 24th Street alright. After that, I skated back down to the apartment along the normal route.

I once got back on my skates after having a couple of drinks with friends a few years ago. I ended up in the emergency room with my leg being placed in a cast. Be careful, bro~
Back in 1995 me and my friend Dan went to Montreal and Quebec during the summer. We were 18, and it was the first time we could go to bars legally, because the drinking age is lower there. On our last night we went out to some tapas place, and drank two or three liters of sangria. We had our skates, and we were drunk and racing down the riverfront. I was going top speed when I hit this low cement rail thing- it was dark and I went flying head over heels. It was a close call- lots of blood and nice scar up my right leg.
