September 30, 2002: Soon Forgotten
About four weeks ago, I mentioned that Bluejake seemed to be getting a lot more hits than usual. As I wrote then, Google had recently reindexed, and Bluejake was showing up third or fourth for a wide variety of September 11th photograph searches: "September 11th Photos", "September 11th Pictures", "Photos September 11th", etc. Josh and I made predictions about what would happen to the traffic once the anniversary past: I guessed that the traffic would fall off sharply, and go back to normal levels (approximately 50-100 unique visitors each day) within one week. He predicted a sharp fall off but with a feeble recovery the following weekend, followed by return to normal levels the next week. According to the diagram below, it appears that he was wrong and I was right.

I'm not sure what this all means. It's normal that people want to see Sept 11th photos before the anniversary and stop wanting to see them the next day. People can't keep thinking about the past, day in and day out.
How many hits from Brazil are you getting these days? And how many hugs from Brazil?
Approximately 3 hits and two hugs per day.
