October 15, 2002: Pig City

Those crazy guys over at MVRDV, the Dutch architecture and design firm, have come up with a way of raising the pig production capacity of the Netherlands: pig skyscrapers. I know, it's the idea of a lifetime. [via Jen and the NYTimes]

I love this (except for the killing of the pigs part), because it does ask the question of what would we be willing to do for these things? MVRDV has other cool projects, such as MetaCity/Datatown and their entry for redesign of the Sweden Post center into a commercial space.
Watch the whole Pig City movie and see how MVRDV has pigs happily on their backs, playing in their mud puddles.
I'm suddenly very hungry for a McRib sandwich.
If Fassbinder had directed this film, I doubt you would be.
Year of 13 Pigs?
Or, imagine Satriale's and the various "meats" they process there.
