February 15, 2003: Year 2

I began this blog on Valentine's Day last year, so today marks the beginning of its second year. Yesterday I was toying with the idea of shifting the main blog over to Moveable Type 2.6. My main reasons are that I would like to add a subject/topic archive, and the ability to turn comments off or on for individual posts. The trackback functionality is also very intriguing- I hope other services adopt that API. Still, if the rumors are true, and Google has bought Pyra Labs, then I may want to keep this blog on Google for a little while and see what happens. There are other advantages of keeping it on Pyroogle- no hassle of having to update every time features are added (if they are added- note to Ev: stop making deals and give me some new functionality. I'd be happy to pay for it!). Also, presumably better indexing on Google- although that's a smaller issue- Bluejake seems to get indexed every day or so as it is. Does anyone else have an opinion about what to do? In the meantime, I've updated my list of links- this time making it into something like a miniature content-portal. Other stuff to look forward to this year: a blowout of Ephemera to its own site, better photography and photo organization, more posts about ideas and less about my face.

I think the "less about Jake" element is important in how we'll be bringing more traffic to the blown-out version of Ephemera.

2 years ??? maybe it's time to retire ?
