August 2, 2003: Pacific Coast Highway, Day 2 (c)

I'm moving up the coast quickly on large highways and country roads. Santa Cruz materializes in front of me in forty minutes or less. I ditch the car in some lot under the abandoned railroad bridge at the south end of the Boardwalk, and take a long walk down to the end of the long pier. After the second middling shrimp cocktail of the day, I take a half hour to relax on the beach before hitting the road again- this time aiming for the intersection of Sutter and Jones in downtown SF, and my old hangout spot, the Commodore Hotel. It's darkness when I pull up- but early enough for a walk through Chinatown, dinner in North Beach, and a nightcap at the Fairmont Hotel.

I love the shot of the people in the ride thing. I have no handle of the English language.
