September 8, 2003: Box Skate

Between summer vacation and starting school, I haven't been skating in weeks. I decided to take it slow today- an easy skate up the newly reopened Williamsburg Bridge south path, dodging Saturday strollers and people admiring the view, and then a leisurely skate down Bedford in Williamsburg. I stopped a few times to take some pictures, and then made my way up Manhattan Avenue to the bridge. Then up through Long Island City to the Queensboro and up 60th Street through the south end of the park. Usually I'd skate down to the river by way of 57th street, but today I took 60th, where I found an amazing hill and a spooky old abandoned pool. As I skated down the West Side Highway, I thought about how much I enjoy skating in the Fall- when the weather gets cooler and the wind really hits you. By the time I reached Houston Street, the sun had almost set.

That sounds really cool, Jake, but I think you have an obsession with drawing on maps.
