January 4, 2004: Kossar's

It was a gray Sunday today, and I was in the mood to take a long walk through LES alone. After twenty minutes or so, I found myself getting hungry, so I stopped at Kossar's for a biali and an everything bagel. The girls behind the counter said I could take some pictures around the building, so I spent a few minutes in the back looking at all the mixers and equipment. Afterwards, I walked down through the FDR projects to the Brooklyn Bridge.

You definitely have more guts than I...I would never ask to do that...you trip me out :)
A friend of mine at the Eldridge Street Project used to do a food tour of the LES where you could go behind the scenes at a Kosher wine place and a Matzoh factory and Gus's Pickles and such. It was nifty. I bet you'd like it.
i cant believe they let anybody off the street come in & go back to where they make all the food.. who wants to bet jake dropped some exlax into the dough?
is it me, or do the stacks of wood containers look like slices of white bread?
that's so funny, tien...i was just about to say the same thing.
Jake not only walks around with bumper packs of ExLax, he has at least 200 tabs of Lactaid pills as well.
