February 8, 2004: Columbia in Winter 2

Columbia was always spooky in the dead of winter. I remember back during Winter break in late 1995 or early 1996, there was a blizzard. I was one of the only people staying in the dorm, and for about three days I didn't leave the building. I survived mostly on Ramen Noodles and Kahlua. The campus brightens up considerably in Spring, when all the trees are in bloom and the kids lounge on the steps late into the evening. That was always my favorite time of year up there. Nice. How did you manage to avoid having people in the photos?
a combo of shooting at 9pm at night and doing 15 second exposures. unless the person is carrying a neon lamp, they won't appear in a photo of that length.
The picture at the main college walk, with reflection from the puddle, is great.
15 seconds, of course! That would explain why your photo of college walk turned out so much better than the ones I took a few weeks ago.
You're thinking of the blizzard on January 7, '96. We had ~ 2 feet. Columbia shut down the Monday after, but there were no classes. I was stuck at home, and shoveled 6 times that Sunday. :-/
Love em. You've inspired me. I went to Columbia too... it has just been ages. I'm going with my New Nikon D100, and obviously, thanks to your suggestion, with a tripod... right?
