February 22, 2004: Time Warner Center

I find malls to be depressing, and I think most Americans are beginning to agree with me. Large malls in particular are having a hard time attracting consumers, who are being drawn to outdoor shopping developments like The Grove in Los Angeles and SoHo in New York City. That being said, I did not find the Time Warner Center to be particularly ugly or upsetting. In fact, it has a fairly elegant architecture, and a respectful attitude toward the area in which it is situated. In particular, I like the large glass curtain wall facing Columbus Circle, and the series of ascending balconies rising above the large entry room.

The long exposure is such a great idea - I like how the mall looks empty and Zen, versus the insanity it really is.
kewl pix...
comparin' soho to the grove is sassy as hell and sadly gettin' truer by the day...
This looks impressive. I wonder how different it will be when it gets busy. I can't wait to get started.
