March 19, 2004: Chicago 3

I'd like to return to Chicago and explore outside the city center. Especially in Wicker Park, Hyde Park, around the Southside, places like that. And I'd love to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright houses out in the suburbs. I'm more of a fan of Mies, but the human scale of Wright's buildings have always intrigued me. But all in all, not a bad first visit. [The complete Chicago and Seattle galleries from my trip are now up.]
jake, did you stay at the intercontinental? your last photos look familiar from when i stayed there. to really get a feel for chicago you have to visit some of the neighborhoods outside of downtown & the loop. i admit i'm still getting to know it but the neighborhoods are where it's at. downtown is midtown. michigan ave is 5th avenue. wicker park is williamsburg. lincoln park is the west village. at least that's how i'd sum it up from what i've seen so far. come back. i'm in wicker park, i'll show you around. you have to come back when i'm in town though!
balthus painting!
score.
those cityscape shots are hot!
Thanks. You make me yearn to visit the Art Institute again. I can't thank you enough for a moment of serenity and the kindling of gentler memories.
Sometimes a photograph is just a photograph (in your case, they are oh so more)
