April 2, 2004: March Miscelleany

I shoot four or five hundred pictures each month, and use less than 50% here on Bluejake. The rest go into "notused" subdirectories, and I generally never look at them again. There are probably a few good shots in those folders, so today I'm creating a new Bluejake feature: a monthly miscelleany post. At the end of each month, I'm going to go back for a second look through my discarded pictures, and rescue a small selection for public display. Some notes on this month's picks:
1. I was skating around Gantry State Park in Long Island City at the beginning of the month, and happened to pass by just as this guy proposed to his girlfriend. Her response: "Oh my god! Are you kidding me?"
2. The third photo is a non-tilt/shift exposure of the Morgan Library. Note the distortion in perspective.
3. The rest of the shots are from my trip to Seattle and Chicago, and one from the set of Law & Order.
I like the first Gantry State Park shot, very raw, very pure.
i wish i could find this couple and send them these two pictures- i mean, how rare is it to have the proposal actually captured on film?
I love these little moments of you see walking around town, there's such an elegance to them. And hopefully this couple finds your site and these pictures, it's really such an amazing moment to have capture on film.
