May 05, 2004: New York Bloggers

I'd like to thank all of the people who made tonight's New York Bloggers event at the Apple Store SoHo such a success: all of the panelists and moderators (Jason, Jeff, Nick, Anil, Meg, Paul, Choire, Felix, Jen, and Lockhart), all of the great bloggers and blogger supporters in the audience, and the staff at both the Apple Store and at Merc Bar, where we had the after-party. If there is enough interest, we may do this again soon- so stay tuned! [A few more pictures can be found in the gallery section.]
Related: Ari's transcripts of the publishers, technology, and editors panels. Gothamist's perspective on the evening. Jeff Jarvis' thoughts from the floor. Steve Silver's summary. Commentary by WhatISee. Foreign correspondant Zonageek's post and beautiful pictures. Enthusiastic review by Greenideas. The Tinman identifies the front row. Ultrasparky feels nostalgic about the whole thing. Perennial favorite Uffish lends her voice. Hespos didn't like the editors panel. Memefirst, of course, has the profanity. Pictures and commentary from new favorite Unrelated News. The straight dope from Nick Denton and Jason Calacanis. More from: Capn Design, Keshertalk, Ubertuber, Standard Deviance, Culture Kitchen, the IT blog, Anzidesign, SpotOn, and last but not least, from Greg.

I like the shot of Meg, alone, in the gallery section, waiting for the talk to begin. It speaks a thousand words about these panels.

I was interview by that Jason Calacanis fellow for a job at this rinky-dink "company" he started. He's a moron, slickster who doesn't know squat about technology. I think him an Henry who started Oven Digital are in cahoots. Don't work for any of his so-called "companies", if you want any job security. fyi.

Any West Coast bloggers out there interested in pulling together a similar event? This discussion is really valuable...and hearing thoughts is often more powerful than reading them.

Tedious and trite. Appealing to only those involved in blogging to begin with.
Can't wait for the blog world to collapse on itself.
