May 7, 2004: A New Baby Balloon is Born Every 6 Minutes

Last night, Eliot and I were talking about the purpose of our sites. I asked him if he ever felt like he didn't have access to certain subjects, because he only shoots what he sees in the normal course of his life. On the contrary, he said, he felt like he wasn't missing anything: since his goal is to represent the things he sees, if he doesn't see it, it's irrelevant. I walked home thinking to myself that I never see anything miraculous in the course of my daily routine. But then this morning, late for a final, I glanced down at the curb and saw this baby balloon being born. It reminded me of Laura Holder's famous picture, and made me feel like there is some magic in all of this, after all.

to paraphrase what someone already cleverly wrote on my photo, "that's what happens when plastics dont use rubbers".

wtf?

You people are quite full of yourself. Neither of the pictures mentioned above are that special.

jesus christ- i'm not presenting these pix or laura's as excellent technical photography. but they do capture unique moments in time. and seriously- this is worth remembering: if you don't have something nice to say, it's better to say nothing at all.

Jake, apropos your comments if you have nothing good to post then don't post it.

that's just it- you need to see a difference between capturing a moment and taking a good picture. sometimes, there isn't time to setup a good picture, but the moment is still worth sharing. at least, that's what this site is about. go someplace else if you want.

Haters unite - somewhere else
