Last night it was too hot to sleep, so I went out for a walk around the neighborhood. I didn't feel like lugging the big tripod, so I shot most of these on the little 6" plastic one, with the tilt-shift lens. Of course, that meant I spent half the time crouching on the pavement, so I'm not sure I really saved much energy. I had intended to go down to shoot in Tribeca, but it occured to me that I've not devoted much time at all to shooting in my own little neighborhood. So here it is.

Boy! Your'e really seeing and capturing the colors at night.

i will share with you my secret:
1. tripod- essential for 30 second exposures
2. f-stop: f22- for maximum depth of field
3. using the curves filter in photoshop to bring out the colors in the image- the raw data is pretty tinted by the streetlamps.

The pics of your cat made me fall of my chair laughing. Great cat you have, I'm envious.

gasp! the bluejake photo secrets come out! watchout for copycats.

A bigshot blog magnate like you can't afford an air conditioner?

Why, oh why does it cost a grand to put a couple of screws in a manual foc. lens so it can correct perspective. I know canon, nikon etc. are extortion artists, but I would have thought someone could make a tilt-shift which didn't mean parting with so much hard earned! any ideas at all? Ive looked at most of my usual cost-cutting options (second hand etc).jhn
