May 27, 2004: Thompson's New Look
I understand that it takes some getting used to, but I've come to like Thompson's lion cut. Of course, it doesn't really matter if I like it or not- we had to give him the hair cut on vet's orders: he's got some dermotological issues that they are working on. Anyway, after the haircut he was pretty depressed, and didn't eat for 36 hours, but now he seems like he's back to his old self, albeit 2lbs lighter.

He looks like a cat-poodle-lion, a Capoodion or capoodleo. I love it! Keep it always. I'll knit a sweater for him for the winter... He's one cool cat...

Thompson has the cutest fur - i love how it starts out grey, goes to black, and then to this really cute tan color. With the haircut, you can really appreciate it, I think.
isn't it funny how their hair looks so much lighter when shaved? madeline's looked the same in the parts they had to shave due to mats when we got her.
What are his dermatalogical issues? I'd be pretty depressed, too.

Jake, this obsession with your cat... I find this very frightening - cute as this semi-hairless and nosebridgeless creature is. Honestly, I'm just waiting for that cat-person moment when you'll say you're getting another one just to keep this one company. Or perhaps it's happened already?
gah! matte sees all. we have talked about getting him a "companion", but the size of our apartment and his delicate health has made us pause. liz keeps offering to give us cats she finds on the street, but if we get another one, i want to get a british blue shorthaired cat. because that would be like the anti-thompson!

Awww! My cat just got a lion cut too! He's so much more cuddly now and feels like a big ol' teddy bear. The poof on the tail makes him look quite gay but this is a cat with gender issues as it is. (Long story.) I tell people that my kitty got a Brazilian. :)

Thompson is too excellent. I have an Exotic Shorthair (Persian with shorthair) and I know that staring-at-the-scissors look too well. I love your NYC photos, but am always happy when there's a Thompson post. Mabel is not terribly interested in the computer, or else I'd show her his cool haircut.

Thompson is gorgeous! I must do this to my Kittymuen (hes a Maine Coon)...I can't take picking up another hairball. And Hey...he can have 2 or 3 or 4 cats! I'm working on getting a 3rd even though my family promised to disown me.
