June 14, 2004: Crosby Street 1

I bought a cigar the other day at this new smoke shop around the corner. I don't smoke, but once or twice a year I'll buy a good cigar and enjoy it by myself. When I smoke, I feel a connection to my grandfather, who also enjoyed cigars. Last night I decided to smoke the cigar on a stoop on Crosby Street, and fire off a few pictures while I relaxed. As I made my way slowly up the street, I ran into a couple of young graffiti artists, and we talked about graf and their various beefs with other writers and with the cops. As I walked home, it struck me as an almost perfect hour- quiet, interesting, and serene. [Unrelated: two beautiful posts, one at Lightningfield, one at MetroPlus. And a stunning shot at Slower.]

Where was the smoke shop? Can you recommend it?
Great snaps, as always.
i've been seeing bast paper work for about 3 years- before that i didn't notice any. some info: at http://s85424629.oneandoneshop.co.uk/bast/
the smoke shop is on spring just east of sullivan, on the north side of the street- very posh, with a walk in humidor- a bit expensive but good selection of cigars from $5-15.
