Summer Streets

I carry a camera in my bag most days. I rarely take it out- Bluejake is increasingly becoming a project-based photoblog, and I have trouble coming up with ways to aggregate the one-off pictures into a full day's post. In that way, I am envious of the single shot photoblogs- no theme is necessary when you are only posting one at a time. Anyway- these are some pictures that I snapped while walking around the last couple of weeks- if they have any value at all, it's because they capture my idea of early summer in New York City. [Unrelated: I added Joe's NYC and Formerly 669 to my list of links here and at Gothamist- both are great NYC photoblogs. Also, Eliot, Laura, and I are going to be in the Pin-up Redux Show at Jen Bekman on June 30th- save the date.]

Beautiful photos!

i like these photos! Better than all those post of just buildings with no sky or landscape...

Yes, my first reaction to these phots were "beautiful." The crosswalk one, especially. The composition is great, and the contrast of the yellow and blueish/green...
Also, the pictures of Thompson always make me smile.

the next two neighborhoods on my list:
1. back to astoria and steinway, at night
2. the east village project

i've been waiting to start the east village for about a year- i'm going to do every street between 1st and 14th, from bowery/3rd avenue to avenue D. i figure i can do two blocks per night, so it should take about 7 days to complete- not all at once- i mean, over the course of the next few months.

1 and 3 are hott

You can feel the heavy, hot, humid, in the park shot. Beautiful capture.

That 3rd pic is amazing man.

I really like the green in the last picture.

those are great pix. my favorite is the 5th one. Love the graffiti, traffic and old buildings in the background.
