August 8, 2004: North Brooklyn Twilight

These are some reject pictures I took during the Williamsburg series earlier in the month. Since most of the other pictures were taken in bright daylight, I decided to cut these and put them in their own post. Looking at them now, I'm struck by how much of Williamsburg I still have left to cover- I haven't touched most of the waterfront, or taken any pictures on Bedford, or done any work in the playgrounds and ballfields at the northern tip of the neighborhood.

The 2nd to last picture looks fake. Something you'd see in universal studios or something. I love it =)
yeah- all these pix are rejects because i had to work them over something pretty good in photoshop before putting them up- that one most of all. most of the time i'd just throw them out, but i liked these for some reason- and sometimes the failures are worth taking a look at.
That twilight skyline shot is stunning... almost monochromatic in the foreground, great colors in the sky, and utterly desolate. Too bad those cars are there, or else it would be a near-masterpiece.
wow. #3 looks like San Gimignano sort of. # 7 and #8 are great. I agree with Mike about #8 though, next time bring a tow truck to clear them out of the way
arghh, I mean # 7
I just saw photo #7 on Gothamist and had to say that I really love this picture. The lighting is wonderful. (I used to live in Brooklyn and that view of Manhattan, with Brooklyn in the foreground and just the silhouette of the buildings of Manhattan off in the distance, makes me nostalgic.)
