September Graffiti

In the course of my wanderings, I often encounter memorable graffiti. These shots were gathered in LES, Williamsburg, and SoHo. There's more over at the Bluejake Moblog. I've been thinking a lot about the purposes of both sites. I've begun to think of them as two different tools in my photography toolkit- Bluejake is for my narrative entries- the storytelling posts. The moblog is more of a wildfeed- a place for collecting the symbols and signs I see around me every day. In that way, taking pictures on my phone is closer to butterfly collecting than the kind of photography I practice here at Bluejake. If I had a little more time and energy, I'd add a third tool to my toolbox- a single-shot site for the best shots- the ones I'd actually want to print out. Someday!

Great set. Where's the fourth one down?

that's actually an interesting abandoned factory down on morgan avenue and like meadow or meserole street. there was a hole in the fence and i went in- some of the pictures in grand street 2 are also taken there- the ones of the creek and the burning trash heap. so that's about six blocks from the intersection of grand and bushwick.

Really good post. You've captured a lot of different styles/themes with those photos.
