October 1, 2004: NYC Photobloggers 2

I want to thank everyone who came out for NYC Photobloggers 2, particularly the presenters: Mike, David, Chris G., Laura, Joe, Ixtayul, Eliot, Chris S., Keith, and Scott. I had a great time listening to everyone talk about their pictures, sites, and upcoming projects. We've got such a great community of photographers here in New York, and I feel lucky every day just to be a part of it. Thanks again! jake -- it was great to be a part of the gathering -- you guys are inspiring! I've put three shots up at joe's nyc -- you just have to click previous from today's picture to get them. http://www.joesnyc.streetnine.com/
Good job on the Photobloggers 2 event. I walked away feeling like it was definitely worth being there. A few thoughts...next time, maybe have fewer speakers with more time to speak. A few of the presenters that I really would have enjoyed hearing more from were just getting started when they got cut off due to the time constraint. Also, while everyone is interesting and has a lot of great photos, the presenters who had a topic of sorts as opposed to "these are my favorite photos" were more interesting. I've been contemplating photography a lot lately and what it has become today, and the differences in candid shots of strangers vs. portraits with permission and listening to others thoughts on such topics was helpful and somewhat inspiring. Anyway, just my opinion. As I said earlier, I am glad to have been there!
Wish I could have made it. I was there in spirit!
Very spooky flash in these shots. What's your trick?
the trick is... forgetting to replace the batteries in the flash! yeah- it was about to die, so I think it wasn't powering right. also, the bar was really dark, and had pretty high ceilings, and i was about a foot too close in most of the pictures.
