City Hall Station

I couldn't get down to the open house at the City Hall Station today, but my camera was there. Seeing the station has always been a goal of mine- but the heavy security around City Hall has made that impossible for the last few years. According to the always invaluable Forgotten-NY, the station was designed by Heins and LaFarge, and opened on October 27, 1904. [I'm posting this early because it's just so cool to get to see a place that has been off-limits for 55 years!]

soooo great!! awesome, awesome, awesome. so jealous.

Wow, soooo cool. Great you got to see it for real.

It's a badly-kept secret that if you stay on the #6 after it leaves Brooklyn Bridge, you can ride through the City Hall stop and come up on the uptown platform. It's neat... try it.

If only my site were up, I'd have some too...
