October 31, 2004: West Side Fog

I went down to the West Side piers to check out the Jenny Holzer plane project, but I didn't see any planes. It turned out to be a nice walk anyway- the piers were totally empty, and the air smelled fresh and wet with fog. Along the way back towards Houston, I saw a couple of joggers and old guys fishing in their folding chairs. [Unrelated: it occurs to me that these little descriptions at the end of my posts are possibly superfluous- would you prefer that I leave them out?]

These are beautiful. They capture today perfectly. The light fog and gray lovely...
i really like the darkness around the edges of some of the photos. seeing the edge of the lense like that really sets the mood for fog. and i think you should keep the descriptions! i love reading about where you took photos and/or why you went there.
well I like your descriptions. you should keep going on with them.
greetings from austria
The descriptions keep it blog-like and there are plenty of visitors to your site who don't recognize where you are capturing your images...including native NYers.
I like the comments. They give a little background information and it provides imagery which adds on to the pictures themselves.
Argh.. By comments, I meant descrptions.. Sorry
oh, fog. so pretty. also, love #5.
the comments are helpful since a lot of the times you cover one neighborhood for multiple posts and it clears up exactly where you are. Also, gives the post personal touch! Jake-flare!
I was a lurker, but I've decided to come out of my shell. I love your pictuers, and i like your descriptions!
jake - as a fellow explorer of new york, not only do i like your commentary, i think you should expand, particularly when describing the area itself and what prompted you to go there. love them, keep them.
Totally agree with the post above: Keep and expand the comments!
Thanks!`
