Boston

I was up in Boston for 36 hours doing some interviews and meeting with people for a possible Bostonist site. I was staying in Cambridge, so I spent some time around Harvard Square and the Harvard Yard. The school grounds feel very New England- sparse and imposing. Compared to the Columbia campus, Harvard always feels dark and deserted to me. The next morning, after the interview, I tried to do some sightseeing, but it was pouring rain and 35 degrees outside. I cut that short, and instead took the Green Line trolly (trolly = bus + 1/2 train) down to the Museum of Fine Arts.

Whew! I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms from no new posts! Glad you are back!

Wow, I visit often to see your great NYC shots, but was pleasantly surprised to see a bit of my city here. Also glad to hear about a potential Bostonist site--that'd be excellent.

Please tell us that you didn't want to follow the Freedom Trail. I hate that thing. "Follow this red line all over the town and REALLY look like a tourist!"

Too bad it wasn't nice outside so that you could've taken some shots of the Harvard Square punkers. It always reminded me of the Union Square bunch. And in Philly, there's more of the same, but in a random alleyway on South Street. Odd.

are you kidding me- i'm all about tourist activities like the freedom trail! i'm such a history nerd that i actually did walk the first part, from the boston common up about five blocks- but when i got up to state street it was so windy that i had to throw in the towel. if we do bostonist, i'm coming back this spring to explore for a few days.

why didn't you check out MIT? especially if you found harvard too cold. definitely check out the stata center (gehry) sometime : ) it's a deliriously fun structure.

I have been waiting for Bostonist I hope that goes through.

Nice Boston stuff! I had been wondering if there was a Bostonist site in our future as well. We sure do need it. Also, did you ever find a way of making the grid to do your poster of 1000 images? I've been wanting to do that with my Boston pics but can't figure out the best way.
