December 13, 2004: Hannukah 2

Thompson sort of freaked out during the Hannukah party- there were more people in the apartment than he'd met in his entire life, so it might have just been too much information to process. He ended up hiding under the bed from 9:30-10:45pm, which is very unusual for him. He's back to his normal friendly self today. [Unrelated: I'm thinking of selling my Digital Rebel and related equipment, and buying a 20D with a zoom and tele lens. Any experience, positive or negative, with these three pieces?]

Ooooh, that's exactly what I want. It's like you read my mind. I've been sweating the 20D with that 17-85mm IS lens.
were sam & dahlia caught making out, or what? that's a funny photo.
I have the 16-35 f/2.8L. It's great. I had the 17-40 f/4L, but sold it after only a month or two because I wanted the faster lens. It's not too big and it's not that heavy. It's my primary lens, in fact.
That 85mm is probably way faster than you need. My impression is that generally anything faster than about f/1.8 makes a lot of bizarre compromises (sharpness, distortion, etc.) to be that fast, but I'm not familiar with the particular lens in question. It may not be worth the money.
nope, not making out. jake was just taking so long to take a picture that we gave up looking natural.
