Thompson is fairly addicted to these treats we buy at the vet's office, and he can be bribed into doing a variety of tricks if you offer him one. Well, really only one trick- he sort of follows you around the apartment if you hold the bag, and if you take one out and hold it above his head, he stands up on his hind legs to get it.

[Regarding yesterday's lens discussion: opinion on the zoom lens seems to slightly favor the more expensive lens, but the consensus is that both are good. Lots of people wrote in recommending that apart from a utilty zoom, I stick to the so-called "prime" lenses (that's the photographer name for non-zoom lenses- ones with just a single focal length.) The thought is that prime lenses are generally faster, with better optics, and quicker autofocus times, which makes a lot of sense. Most likely, I will be buying this zoom, and a couple of primes off my B&H list. What are you feelings about prime lenses?]

he's so much hotter in person.

why does he always look on the verge of tears? melancholy nature? overactive tear ducts? discuss.

yay thompson! we havent seen that furball in awhile. my family used to give our cat these store-bought treats called "pounce" that he lovedlovedloved, but made him smell.. it was weird.

what kind of cat is that? He's great. I'm not a cat fan, but I can make an exception for a supremely dope cat like that.

Never mind, after viewing the cat folder I see he's a Persian. and that you get this question in every post.

so jake, your lens discussion -- my opinion: decent zooms (canon, nikon) are plenty sharp these days, and most current zooms focus plenty fast, but for speed you need a prime. Is that important? You do a lot of tripod work -- do you need the fastest lens? If you're going to be shooting handheld in available light, sure, go for a prime with f/1.8 or 2.0, but otherwise, you'll just spend a lot of time dragging a lens out of your camera bag and popping off the cover and juggling the lenses as you swap and screwing the cover on the lens, and jamming it back in your bag -- and getting dust in that expensive Canon. We'll see you squatting on the sidewalk a lot. Plus you gotta carry all those lenses everywhere you go.

'Course I'm shopping for a fast prime because I'm always shooting moving targets in dark tunnels...
