Sometimes I think that there are only three kinds of pictures you can take: portraits of people, landscapes, and abstractions. Everything else is a subcategory. Architecture is a subcategory of landscapes. War photography is a subcategory of portraits. Nature photography is a subcategory of portraits (if you are taking animals), or else of landscapes. I often classify photographers into these categories when I look at their work, or their sites. I'll say: that dude is pretty good at portraits and abstractions, but he sucks balls on landscapes- maybe he needs a wide-angle lens. Or I'll say: that guy is pretty good at landscapes and abstractions, but he's terrible at portraits- he must be shy. Classifying things gives me a sense of control.

Yep, you've got a point there. I really suck balls on abstractions.

The last pic of the water looks like the top of a really chewey chocolate brownie - the kind you make from a box at home.

Any tremors while you were there, Jake?

I think your best work is landscapes Jake

i think my best work is the abstractions stuff- it's mathematical and simple, and that's how i think. the landscapes are just an approximation.
