Austin 5

If you are like me, when you get to a new place you ask two questions: how much milk do they put in the food around here? and what does the architecture in this town look like? For Austin, the answer to the first question is straightforward: there in no milk in the BBQ, but the Mexican food has a lot of cheese. The best BBQ that I ate was at Stubbs on Red River, and at the Salt Lick stand at the airport. The architecture in Austin is okay. There are some old buildings- some on 6th Street, for instance- but most of the streets look like they were built in the 1980s- lots of glass everywhere. The most impressive stuff I saw was the abandoned buildings that skirt downtown, and the Texas capital, which features a very vertiginous rotunda.

Very beautiful photos! Congratulations!

I -so- love your photos...

i like this post jake - the top three remind me a bit of gursky...

The capitol here in Austin really does lend itself to pictures. My favorite that I took inside of the doomis one shot directly up from the very center of the floor under the rotunda.

Are the bats there yet? I was in Austin exactly a year ago and it was soooo cool.
