Bluejake

The other day I went up to the Japan Society to check out "Little Boy", their survey of post-war Japanese pop art. It's a small exhibit, but they also installed satellite outposts in Central Park and Union Square Station. The exhibit basically showcases three artistic movements: the hyper-cute (Hello Kitty, anime figures), the perverse Lolita stuff (lots of drawings of naked thirteen year olds), and the hyper-violent (Godzilla, drawings of battleships and guys in armor). All very interesting- I'm excited to check it out in situ in Tokyo next month.
