Bluejake

I've been meaning to get out to Broad Channel for a few years- it's a little island in the middle of Jamaica Bay, about halfway between Queens and the Rockaways. Yesterday I somehow managed to convince JCN and Youngna to go down there with me- they were super-cool travelling companions. The neighborhood feels like a little Long Island fishing village- lots of bungalows and little houses on stilts. Down at the south end of the island, the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Preserve has some beautiful scenery and lots of great bird watching. All this for just a short 35-minute ride on the A Train! [Bonus: another shot of baby birds, and some swans!]
