when i saw the first photo, i already suspected that it was hong kong: so dense, so mountainous. then the second one gave it away: the norman foster hsbc bank building (quarter of the way in from the left), and of course the ridiculously flimsy-looking bamboo and green sheets people in hong kong use to build 20-storey buildings, 30-storey buildings, and so forth (see the details of the big building on the right hand side of the second photo). the photos were taken from mid-levels on hong kong island, looking toward the harbour; probably on the upper reaches of stubbs road.
