The key, I believe, to doing a good Unauthorized Gursky Duane-Reade Project is pointing the camera straight at the shelf, at a height half-way between the floor and the top of the shelf. Locate the camera exactly halfway between one of the shelf and the other, and shoot. Try it yourself-- it works.

those are kind of trippy with the small spacing between photos.
but admit it, you were shopping for some ammonium ad.
the effect is dizzying. it's like a drugstore for dyspeptic giants.
Jake, long time no comment....I found the subject change in your work a little disturbing. Maybe it's Warhol - maybe you have eaten too much take-out.
I found a handy tool to get rid of barrel distortion, not that I am pimping software, but check it out, PTLens has a very good correction filter for photoshop. They link to a mac version on the site as well called Lensfix. One of the disadvantages of dslr's is needing ultra wide lenses to shoot wide, nearly every photo needs some correction-drives me mad!
maybe it's because i always shoot with smallish cameras, but generally i find it pretty easy to shoot these unauthorized in-store shots (whole foods allegedly hates it). these however, are as crisp as my freezer is cold... great work man!
I am always taking shots in grocery stores and what not. When I went on vacation in SC...I did a set on flikr of my shopping in Edisto which mostly was food in the Piggly Wiggly...and I just got back from the Big Lots...shooting sad celebrity products there. I guess I'm lucky to not get busted. These are awesome.
