January 1, 2006: Media Bubble

About six weeks ago, I noticed Sony was employing deceptive graffiti to advertise their PlayStationPortable device. This offended me, so I wrote an op-ed piece about it for Gothamist entitled "Corporate Graffiti Sucks Balls." Marc over at WoosterCollective also wrote a number of posts about the controversy, and eventually our work was noticed by other bloggers. Then Wired Magazine did a short piece about it. Then the Wired piece got noticed by newspaper writers around the country, which led to the story getting picked up by many media outlets, including the Associated Press and Slashdot. Finally, some of the New York City television newscasts heard about the story-- which meant that I got a few seconds on UPN9 and Fox5. Crazy stuff!

Graffiti is our way of expressing our cultures(the hip hop) art. Our art shouldn't sold and manipulated by the corporates. SF-PERU- SF
