This, of course, is the building next to Pearl Paint on Canal Street a half-block off Broadway. Interesting fact: Pearl Paint was the first place in the city I ever visited without adult supervision. That was in 7th grade-- my friend Claire B took us in on the F and we walked down from West 4th Street. The city seemed large and almost impossible to fathom next to the small-town size of Park Slope. It was scary.
