December 10, 2006: A Man Standing on Minetta Street

Whenever I walk home from the West 4th Street subway station, I walk up Minetta Lane, and then up Minetta Street back to Bleecker. The corner of Minetta and Minetta is one of those wonderful spots in the Village that hide almost in plain sight. It's almost always empty, except for the occasional bums looking for a spot to pee, or people looking for a place to sit and eat their takeout from Mamoun's Falafel. No such spots exist-- your best bet is actually leaning against a wall and eating the sandwich standing up.
