January 7, 2007: Quest Mechanical Corp

Yesterday I finally kicked my cold, and decided to go out for a walk in this abnormally warm Winter weather. I jumped on the train and took it down to Smith and 9th Street, and then walked over to Red Hook, where I had heard Visual Resistance had done a big piece. It was a beautiful day-- it felt like late May. Almost enough to make you forget about the gigantic global warming catastrophe that is most definitely going to be fucking all of us in a few more years.

Here's an alternate shot I considered for today-- but then decided not to use.

This sentence sums up my weekend: "It was a beautiful day-- it felt like late May. Almost enough to make you forget about the gigantic global warming catastrophe that is most definitely going to be fucking all of us in a few more years." It was definitely the theme of nearly all conversations.

Great photo, as always :)

I've been visiting this site for some time and I'm glad you're allowing comments now. (I'm curious to know why you didn't want them for a time.)

I like both of these photos, but I prefer the alternate - it's so vibrant and visually interesting. I especially like the window on the right which looks so musical with the yellow banners looking like music staffs and then you see that they're printed with a row of BLAHs. The guy giving you the eye adds something also.

Eating and Art Conditioning. It makes me think of portly and gluttonous middle managers wandering through a gallery talking amongst themselves about the art. "Now, I could have made that," says one, nudging another in the belly and pointing at a piece. A discussion of what "real art" is follows, and then on to the commercial potential of art and how it really ought to be made for a broader audience (Sales. Service.), and next thing you know, he's gone and become a Thomas Kinkade franchisee.
