January 25, 2007: Apple Locksmiths


I've been reading a lot on Zen recently, and thinking about it while out on these night shoots. There's something very meditative about setting up the tripod, taking the shot, and then waiting the full thirty seconds as the exposure gets made. You have a lot of time to just stand there and enjoy the scene. Often I just listen to the sounds of the city and let my mind drift.

Here's an alternate I considered for today: Brooklyn Works.

I know what you mean about the zen thing. I've been in situations where I was doing seven bracketed exposures at more than 2 minutes per. That's pretty much a half hour of sitting very still trying not to shake the floor. Who need a yogi?

These night pictures are really beautiful. They make me want to see more of New York.
