September 16, 2007: Mike Nelson At Essex Street Market

If you haven't been there already, you owe it to yourself to visit Mike Nelson's A Psychic Vacuum. In the hulking, disused shell of the Essex Street Market, Nelson has created an entire world-- room after room of spooky, haunting stuff. I spent about an hour exploring the place, but you could get lost there for days.
Here's an alternate version of the top shot with a wider field of view.

sweet....that shot of the bar is very nice. also the pano puts mine to shame. damn you.
i really loved this exhibit-- i think it gives a wider audience a taste of what urban explorer types experience when they enter a disused or abandoned building. i had expected it to feel totally contrived-- but every room felt natural-- like they could have been there for years.
I'm just sorry it's only open three days a week. I'd like to go back today!
