December 4, 2007: All the Way to Hell's Gate

A few weeks ago a few of us went up to the South Bronx and spent three or four hours walking around. First, up by Hunt's Point and the Bronx River inlet-- and later, down on the semi-abandoned tracks that wrap around the southern tip of the borough. After a little while we found ourselves walking along the creek that separates Randall's Island from the Bronx-- above us was the Hell's Gate bridge. Off in the distance there was a small group of homeless guys hanging out-- but besides them, the place was totally deserted.
