January 11, 2008: In the Spooky Whole Foods Lot

For most of the year, the Whole Foods site on Third Avenue and Third Street in Gowanus has been wide open-- mainly because of missing panels in the fence. If you take a peek inside, you'll find very little construction work going on. That leaves a very peaceful little industrial park-- with a rain-water pond in the middle, a spooky house at the corner, and private views of the Gowanus on two sides. If not for the high levels of chemical pollution, it'd be a nice place for a picnic.
