February 8, 2008: A Mural in Red Hook

Red Hook

Last weekend I found myself taking a long solitary walk in Red Hook. I was feeling a little beat-- by the bright winter light, by the relentless redevelopment of the neighborhood, and by the total dearth of streetart. That usual thought-- why must every interesting corner of the city be sanitized, repackaged, and sold? But then I turned a corner down by the docks, and came across this beautiful piece. It was huge, and the colors were a perfect match for my mood.
