February 22, 2008: Admiral's Row in Winter

I was biking down in Bushwick on Monday, looking for some C215 pieces. At one point, coming down McKibben, a truck was blocking the street, so I rode up on the sidewalk for a half block. No one was around, so it was safe-- but the six cops parked in a van at the corner disagreed. Lights and sirens on, the caught up with me a few minutes later, and wrote me out a violation and a court appearance ticket. Now this would have annoyed me pretty bad, except that while I was waiting for them to write the ticket, I happened to have time to review the photos I'd been shooting for the last couple of hours. It turns out, the whole time I hadn't had a card in the camera, and I'd lost everything-- but because these thoughtless, bicyclist-oppressing cops stopped me, I noticed it, and I had time to go back and reshoot what I'd lost-- including this Admiral's Row set. So that's a little lesson about life and fate for you. Think about it!
