May 3, 2008: Away from the Crowds

Away from the Crowds

We dropped by the annual Sakura festival today at the BBG-- it was crappy weather, but it seemed like half of Brooklyn was there. As usual, the Cherry Esplanade was totally packed-- families on blankets, teenagers in Japanese cosplay gear, ten million photographers taking the same shot (head in front of blossoms.) After we watched a group of girls dressed as slutty geishas throwing rocks at one of the ducks, we decided to take a walk around the less trafficked parts of the garden. Five minutes later, we were totally alone.

Jake, I wish I'd run into you two! I was the BBG official photographer today, and by 6pm, my feet were too sore to walk another step. But what a blast.
